THIS DAY IN WW2 (27.4.40)
In Norway... The British decide to evacuate their forces from Namsos and Andalsnes, giving up any attempt to reach Trondheim. Andalsnes is heavily attacked from the air.

From Berlin... Himmler orders the conversion of an old Polish army barracks into the construction of Auschwitz concentration camp. Its' original intended purpose is to imprison dissident Poles.

TRIVIA
The world's first jet fighter to see action was the German Me262,introduced in April1944. The RAF introduced their own jet fighter, the Gloster Meteor just under a month later. Vastly superior to any propellor-driven aircraft, there were not enough built in time to make any significant impact in the war, although Meteors were effective at shooting down V-1 flying bombs.

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
I will stop thinking SHOULD and start thinking CAN!
