SUNDAY 19th SEPTEMBER 2010 06:55(BST)

THIS DAY IN WW2 (19.9.40)
In Occupied Europe... With Hitler having postponed Operation Sealion indefinitely, the German invasion fleet begins to disperse from the Channel ports. The later reports of the German navy show that 1918 barges have been assembled, of which 214 have been sunk or damaged. Similarly 21 out of 170 transports have been lost.

In Rome... Ribbentrop meets Mussolini and Ciano in Rome and warns them not to attack Greece or Yugoslavia. The Italian leaders indicate an intention to conquer Egypt first.

TODAY IN MY LIFE
Generally recovering from my son's poorly-considered encounter with a bottle of Whiskey at a party last night. Lots of worry, round-trips and inconvenience but no harm done and some lessons learned all round. Somewhat thrown by unexpected criticism from unexpected quarters at same time on unrelated matter. All this conspired to induce semi-insomnia, but making most of time to keep up with online stuff.

TODAY'S THOUGHT
Those never misunderstood never said anything.

TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Very pleased with my more robust mentality which will inform my work with clients.

TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
Who are you really answerable to in the end?

TODAY'S ONELINER
I can give up gambling anytime - you can bet on it! : D

TODAY'S TUNE I LIKE
Throw Ace of Base, ABBA and Madonna into a cauldron, stew it up with some slick production and you get something like this infections slightly melancholy pop number.

TRIVIA
If you add up the numbers 1-100 consecutively (1+2+3+4+5 etc) the total is 5050.

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
Damn the torpedoes!
